Impact

We never know the impact we're going to have on someone else's life. I think we all want to have a purpose in our life; we all want to mean something, to do something, to help someone, to live our best life. There are days when I'm just going along and then someone reaches out to me and tells me how much I helped them in my work or through my writing- and I'm stunned and overjoyed and so grateful to have been able to help.

The fact that we are making a difference in someone's life, that we are making our imprint on the world, is breath-taking. It's humbling to think that we, each of us, has meaning on this earth not just for ourselves. It's affirming to know that we can help our family and our friends and even strangers, just by showing up.

Sometimes we may think we're living our lives in a bubble, yet we touch others in ways we cannot imagine. Just being a friend or a sounding board is important. We may not have the answers but maybe we're not supposed to. Maybe we're just supposed to be on their side and be supportive and accepting and listen - really listen- to what someone else is saying. Maybe listening to someone else will help us connect with our own soul. Maybe our past decisions can help someone else decide what to do, or not do. Maybe we should remember that we are not alone, we are all in this together, to love each other and support each other and listen to each other and just be there for each other. Maybe we can be humbled and be grateful and be appreciative of what we can give someone else, to know that we are here and we will truly make a difference.

This is the life.
