I heard a phrase that other day that resonated with me: "Life happens for us not to us". That sentiment is, what I think can be, a turning point for many people in their lives. Because when we imagine and believe that what is happening is meant to help us along the way, rather than to throw obstacles in our path and create disharmony, we can be assured that things will work out.
Now it may not be that things work out the way we wanted or had imagined, but I believe things will work out in the end. That maybe we can't see the whole field at one time and are caught in the play-by-play, but at the end we can see how everything unfolded. It may be in the long run that we are happier, but in the times of loss we cannot see that fully. It may be that the turmoil we are experiencing is needed to clear out what is not working, to make room for what will. It may be that our journey through the mud and the darkness is necessary to help us see more fully and clearly the light in the end.
So in those times of feeling like we are at the mercy of change, we should hang on to the belief that it's all for a reason we just cannot see yet. It is in those times that our faith must be strongest, that our resolve must be steadfast, and that our joy in seeing why it had to play out the way it did will be worth it in the end.
