Limbo

When you are in the middle of any life transition, there is a period of limbo that is an unwelcome part of the process. I say "unwelcome" because I don't know anyone who enjoys being in limbo: waiting for one chapter to close, waiting for your future to start. Waiting. Unable to move as you wish. Unable to act as you'd like. Unable to do a lot of anything except wait for things to fall into place.

It makes me wish there was something to do, while we're in limbo. Makes me wish there was something I could say to make it better. But maybe the real thing to do is to sit, and be quiet, and watch.

Watch what we are leaving slowly come apart, become our past, become what was. Watch as things unfold to show what it is that is next; what's coming up, what will be. Watch as we take stock in what we had and decided was no longer right, and watch as we shore up our confidence and our bravery to take the next steps. Watch as we prepare ourselves, as we make changes, as we congratulate ourselves, as we decide to move forward and not be stuck in the past. Maybe limbo is what we need, to preserve our energy and our resolve, because the future will be here sooner than we know it.
